Scientists go out and collect data, make observations and draw conclusions. They need a forum to discuss their findings with other scientists to make sure they are not wrong and to develop hypotheses from their observations how the earth functions. They also have an obligation to communicate this to the outside world, the public. ICES will facilitate these fora by organizing the symposium.
