*1st OSL-APECS-PYRN training workshop on permafrost research methods -- St. Petersburg, 30 Nov-2 Dec 2007 -- Full travel grants available to PYRN and APECS members*
The Otto Schmidt Laboratory for Polar and Marine Research (OSL) at the State Research Center for Arctic and Antarctic Research (AARI) together with the Association of Polar Early Career Scientists (APECS) and the Permafrost Young Researchers Network (PYRN) are organising a training workshop on modern investigation techniques in the field of permafrost science (http://www.awi-potsdam.de/pyrn/oslworkshop.html). The workshop will be held from November 30 to December 2, 2007 in St. Petersburg, Russia.
A selection of the top permafrost researchers from around the world have been invited to share their knowledge and research methods from various disciplines. This workshop provides an ideal meeting grounds for you, the next generation of international permafrost researchers, and an unparalleled opportunity to "learn from the best".
APECS will provide "between seven and ten full travel grants" to PYRN and/or APECS members (flights, accomodation, and most meals) and "ten other travel grants" to members from Russian institutions. To apply for the travel grants, please mention in the application form that you require funding to attend.
Attendance is, of course, open to any member of the two associations with the ability to fund his or her own travel. Registration is free, while costs for food and accommodation are estimated at 600-700 EUR
The deadline for applications is "September 30th". As visa applications will need to start immediately for workshop attendees, NO EXTENSIONS ON THE DEADLINE WILL BE GRANTED. You will find the application forms on the conference website: http://www.awi-potsdam.de/pyrn/oslworkshop.html
