On Wednesday, August 1st, an IPY project on Greenland reached its first major milestone. IPY Project 118, The Greenland Ice Sheet: Stability, History and Evolution, set out in June with a caravan of caterpillars to crawl across Greenland's inland ice. The aim: Transport equipment from an old drilling site and make it ready for a new ice core drilling project in 2008. They have now arrived at NEEM, the new site.
