The IPY Publications Database is being created by a consortium of polar databases and libraries from the USA, UK, Canada and India. In addition to making descriptions of IPY publications available in a new database, the project will add the descriptions to existing polar databases and library catalogues to ensure that the results of the IPY are permanently preserved. Work on the IPY Publications Database will continue for ten or fifteen years after the end of the IPY.
