Description

The opening of a two-part photo exhibit by environmental photojournalist Gary Braasch in association with author and filmmaker Lynne Cherry has been moved to Tuesday, 10 November 2009. It will be on display at the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Headquarters Atrium in Washington, D.C., through February 2010.

"Climate Change in Our World," an exhibit of large-scale color photographs, will show climate change effects already rampant, and illustrate some of the actions being taken toward a future of lower emissions and new opportunities. The images are from the book "Earth Under Fire: How Global Warming is Changing the World" by Braasch.

A companion exhibit for kids, parents, and school groups, "How We Know About Our Changing Climate," will highlight how scientists learn about climate change. This section of the exhibit displays images from the book "How We Know What We Know About Our Changing Climate," by Braasch and Cherry. The educational show will include films of kids taking action from Cherry's project "Young Voices on Climate Change."

School groups, non-governmental organizations, and political offices are invited to use the exhibit to aid their work in educating about climate change, its causes, and its solutions. Hours for public viewing are generally from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday to Friday. Saturday appointments may be made by arrangement. School groups are encouraged to contact Virginia Stern at AAAS ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) for tours.
