Description

The 67th Eastern Snow Conference (ESC) will be held at Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort, Hancock, MA USA 8-10 June 2010. Jiminy is noteworthy for its 1.5MW wind turbine, providing approximately 33% of its electrical demands. The scientific program is open to sessions on theoretical, experimental, and operational studies of snow, ice, and winter hydrology.  The ESC reputation is demonstrated by the BAMS State of the Climate 2008, having five of its eight Northern Hemisphere snow and ice chapters authored by ESC members. Are you tired of big meetings? ESC has only Plenary sessions, allowing time to view and discuss the research of each participant.  This year’s general theme is “Here today gone tomorrow, the Eastern North America Cryosphere”.
A special poster session entitled “IPY and Beyond” is also planned. Students are encouraged to enter the ESC Student Paper Competitions. The winner of the best submitted student paper will receive theWiesnet Medal, a $750 prize. The Campbell Scientific Canada Award of $500 will be awarded to the submitted paper demonstrating the most innovative use of technology in the gathering of data. In addition, the David Hewitt Miller Student Poster Award of $100 will be awarded to the best student poster.
You are invited to submit an abstract for oral or poster presentation. An abstract of 200-250 words should be submitted via email by 5 March 2010 to the program chair Dr. Mauri Pelto ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ).
