Top to Bottom: Arctic, Both Poles, Antarctic.
This latest version presents 228 endorsed IPY proposals: 166 in science and 52 in education and outreach. The number in each hexagon refers to the proposal ID number in the IPY Full Proposal database (scroll to the bottom of the page). An associated spreadsheet provides the full project names and lead persons for each proposal. (Last updated: January 30, 2007)

IPY is a truly global endeavor. Many countries are involved with dozens of scientific projects endorsed by the IPY. But which ones, exactly? Below are charts that highlight those projects a particular country or ommunity is involved in.... scientists from over 60 countries are involved in IPY, however, so this just gives you a few examples of international IPY participation that have been developed for specific presentations.
